Curatorial Work

Thousands of artifacts to learn from...

Texas Parks and Wildlife has a talented team of folks working daily to comb through the thousands of Battleship TEXAS related artifacts that have been found or donated over the past 7 decades.  This process is slow going but critical to painting a full picture of the ships rich history.  First Texas Volunteers have the distict opportunity to train with the curatorial staff on how to handle and work around these artifacts and over time assist in curatorial duties aboard the ship.

If your interest in the ship lies beyond the nuts and bolts and you wish to dive into the human history of the ship this is a way for you to connect to history in a way few can.  From the stories of the sailors who served aboard her, to the items they crafted we gain a better understanding of the ship, not just as a machine of war, but as the home for many young men through two World Wars.  For more information on how you can help as a volunteer curator...
